Abstract
The present study is the analysis of “Participation of Women in Household Decision
Making” among Danuwar Rai married women. The objectives of this study to find out
the socio-economic and demographic characteristics among Danuwar community, And to
identify the level of participation in the household decision making of Danuwar women.
Its sample cluster is Naubise VDC, Ward No. 4, Dhading district. This study is based on
primary information of 125 married women among 369 females in the selected area,
taken purposively as sample. Out of 162 household 125 households were included
purposively as sample for the study. The information has been collected by direct
interview with the help of semi structured questionnaires. The processing of the collected
data has been done using software package SPSS.
This study has attempted to portray the decision making power of married women in age
groups 15-49 years in household chores, farm management, educational aspects, and
family planning related activities. It also demonstrates the socio-economic status of
women with respect to decision making as a whole in the study area.
In this study, though women are lagging behind in terms of educational status. 17.6
percent of primary level, 2.4 percent lower secondary, 1.6 percent secondary and 4
percent of respondents are SLC passed. They have satisfactory access in terms of using
the modern resources and household in income possession 5.6 Percent of respondent’s
participation in social activities is in the bottom line.
Married women of the age groups 15-49 years are well informed about family planning
and most of them are involved in decision making on choosing the proper method.
It has found that, Danuwar Rai women are found in a better self decision making position
regarding the household activities.
