The present research work entitled ‘Students’ Perception on Homework in
English Language Learning’ was an attempt to explore the secondary level
students’ perceptions to identify students perception on homework provided
them by the teachers and to find out whether the work assigned to be done at
home encourages their creativity or becomes academic burden to them and to
find out the practices of homework in English Language Learning at Shree
Saraswati Secondary School Purbichau R.M, 04 Doti. Survey research design
mixed method was followed to complete this study. The respondents for this
research were selected by using random sampling procedure. The primary data
were collected from forty students of class ten and two English teachers of
Shree Sawaswati Secondary school. A set of questionnaires containing both
close-ended and open-ended questions was the main tool for data collection.
The collected data were analyzed and interpreted by using simple statistical
tools using tables, percentages and interpreted descriptively. The major finding
of this study was students’ perception towards homework and developing their
language skills was positive. Homework helped to develop writing skills by
improving students' skills on vocabulary use, sentence formation and
organization. Likewise, the practices of homework in English language
learning in the context of Shree Saraswati Secondary School purbichauki, R.M
04 Doti has been continued by following the Homework pattern as it is in the
textbook along with the specific homework moods like: group work, project
work and so on .
This study contains five chapters. The first chapter deals with the
background of the study, statement of the problem , objectives of the study,
research questions, significance of the study, delimitation of the study and
operational definition of the key terms. The chapter two comprises review of
the theoretical and empirical literature, implication of the study and conceptual
framework. Likewise, chapter three consists design and method of the study,
population, sample and sampling strategies, research tools, sources of data, data
collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure, data analysis and
interpretation procedures and ethical consideration. Chapter four includes
analysis of data and interpretation of the results. Similarly, the fifth chapter
focuses on conclusions and recommendations of the study. Finally, the
references and appendices have been included in the last part of the study for
the validation of the research.
