Abstract

Environmental literature aims at reading the earth closely to understand its pattern and system. Environment is the foundation of all organisms which are interconnected and dependent upon each other for their existence. Silko in her Gardens in the Dunes emphasizes upon the inherent value in all the biotic and abiotic forms in nature which makes the world wholistic and balanced. By erasing the boundaries between human beings and nature at different levels, that helps human beings to recognize the interconnectedness, the novel puts human and nature at good terms with a view to build a harmonious balance.
