Abstract
Mathematics is the one of the important subjects in human life. It is widely used to solve the
daily life problems. However, most of the students fear from the mathematics and feel that is it
difficult to grasp. The study entitled “Factors Affecting Students Low Enrollment in
Mathematics” is a qualitative in descriptive nature attempts to identify the factor affecting
students’ low enrollment in mathematics at bachelor level and to dig out the possible way to
enhance the enrollment of students in mathematics. To achieve this objective interview
guidelines with campus chief, mathematics teacher, students and parents as well as observation
form was conducted to collect primary data from Deukhuri Multiple Campus, Lamahi, Dang. For
this researcher had taken total 16 students from different aspects as from those who were 4
mathematics, 2 non mathematics and 10 shifted other subject from mathematics.. The obtained
data was developed on conceptual understanding of the study and then data was analyzed by
weighted mean using three Likert scale.
Problem related to prior knowledge, teacher efficiency, assessment system, course
difficulty and out of content but contextual factor with physical facilities, awareness and plans of
parents, home environment, students’ regularity and problem related to administration.
This study is based on current issue as to why the bachelor level of mathematics
education is severally facing crises of students’ enrollment. Lack of prior knowledge, teacher
efficiency, assessment system, course difficulty and out of content but contextual factor with
physical facilities, awareness and plans of parents, home environment, students’ regularity and
problem related to administration are causative factor in reducing the enrollment of the students.
Similarly, poor job market, impact of peers and society and less responsible factor for low
students’ enrollment
