Abstract
A thesis conducted in Effects of Education on Livelihood Of Married Women: A Case Study in Patthardeiya VDC of Kapilvastu District, The general objectives of this study are to explore education and livelihood of married women in Pattherdeiya VDC Kapilbastu district. This study based on only one VDC i.e. Pattherdeiya VDC of Kapilbastu district, which may not nationally representative. This study carried out on the descriptive as well as explanatory research design. The data is qualitative as well as quantitative in nature. For the purpose of the study, both primary and secondary data were used in the study.
The field research shows that 18 percent of the members are non-formal (who study below SLC) they somehow know how to read and write. They got opportunity to participate in formal or non-formal education. Among them 54 percent of members had completed SLC and only 6 percent are able to complete their intermediate level. On the other hand, 12 percent are able to complete their above bachelor’s level. Out of 41 respondents (Who were not completed their higher education) till the date of survey from this percent of dropout (97.57) is very high which directly effects the education status of women. The various causes about why they left their academic institutions. Majority of respondents have dropout their classes or education due to marriage which covers 34.14 percent 21.95 percent failed in exam. Similarly 17.07 percent women have dropout due to poor economic conditions, some women 19.51 percent have dropout due to household work and 4.88 percent women have dropped out due to pregnancy. 7.14 percent respondents have gained non-formal education from ‘Adult literacy program’. This shows the achievement of adult literacy program launched by NG Nepal. Similarly 21.42 percent have gained non formal literacy from their relatives and 14.28 percent from family members same followed by radio. This shows the achievement of adult literacy program launched by NG Nepal.
