Abstract
This presentresearch workentitled'Techniques Used in Teaching English inRural Areas'aimed at finding outthe techniques used in teaching English in rural
area schools. For the accomplishment of the research work, the researcher selectedthe teachers of different schools of Pyuthan district. First of all, he built rapportwith the schools for the class observation and observed fifty classes of differentten teachers. The data were analyzed after collecting them by using differentstatistical tools and presented through tables. The study showed that the majorityof the rural teachers were found using descriptive types of techniques in theirteaching like translation (i.e.use of mother tongue), guessing, question answertechnique, text reading (i.e. lecture) technique and a very few teachers were foundusing other learner-centered or activity based techniques in their classes.
Thisthesis consistsof four chapters. Chapter one consists ofgeneral background,review of the related literature, objectivesand significanceof the study. Similarly,chapter two contains methodology adapted in course of study, sourcesof data,tools for data collection and limitationsof the study. Chapter three presents theanalysis and interpretationofthe data obtained through primary sources. Chapterfour includes findings and recommendationswhich are derived and suggested withthe help ofanalysis and interpretation of data.References and appendices areincludedat the end of this work to make the work more valid.
