Though the representation ofMahatma Gandhi in partition fiction is a matter of controversy, Balchandra Rajan in his widely acclaimed novelThe Dark Dancerdefends Gandhism through the character of the protagonist, Kamala. The Protagonist launches a campaign to liberate people from the evils of the society. The dissertation claims that the writer highlights the spiritual quest of Gandhi so as to liberate people from all sins.
