Abstract
This thesis entitled An Analysis of English Textbook Grade Nine is an attempt to
analyze the textbook in terms of its physical aspects, academic aspects, strength and
weakness and needs and interest of the learners. In the process of this study, I
collected data from primary and secondary sources. The primary sources of data were
the responses provided by the English teachers who are teaching English Textbook
Grade Nine in Sunsari and Morang districts (See Appendix-E), and students who
were taught English using English Textbook Grade Nine (Appendix-F). The main
secondary source of data was the textbook itself. In order to collect the data, two sets
of questionnaires were prepared for the teachers and students (see Appendix A & B).

that the contents of the textbook are related to the students' need in which 30/40
respondents agreed on it. Regarding language of the subject, respondents agreed on
it. The findings of the study are based on teachers’ and students’ perceptions on the
textbook. (See table No: 1). The textbook has also emphasized in the communicative
function of language in which 28/40 respondents agreed on it. (See table No: 2)
