Abstract

This research is a case study of Role of Areca Nut Cultivation in Rural Economy: A Case Study of Buddhashanti Rural Municpality Ward No. 7 , Dharagola of Jhapa District. This study is mainly based on primary as well as secondary data, with the purpose sampling of 20 households (out of 100 households). The primary data collected by using questionnaire from each 20 households. Households are Dharagola and Gairigaun of Buddhashanti wada no7. On the basis of field survey by applying different techniques such as field note, structured interview, field observations, households questionnaire and sampling procedure and sample size. The qualitative and quantitative data has been analyzed which are taken from the study area. Whereas secondary data taken by with the help of various report,, books, wave sites, journals publishing different institutions, various seminars report journals and documents of Nepal and other countries. The main objectives of this thesis are to know the role of ginger production on rural economy of study area of Buddhashanti rural municipality of ward no. 7, and to find out the burning problem of socio economic condition of the areca nut producer to meet the objectives of the study primary and secondary data were collected from the field visit. Findings of this research are summarized in points below. Areca nut growers are using traditional technology there is no facility about areca nut farming loan. No any office of the agriculture is working with the areca nut farmers. Areca nut growers are monotonous due to the prize ups and downs fluctuation. No specific program on areca nut production is seen from the side of DAO office and RM office in Jhapa district . Lack of laboratory for testing the soil quality and organisms. Lack of agro-forest increment in whole Jhapa distric. Areca nut growers don't know the methods of producing 'Piece of supari’ at the study area. Areca nut growers are not skilled in technical activities which can add value on areca nut no P H test soil is done.
