Abstract
The present study entitled “Application of Communicative Language
Testing” aims to find out the application of communicative language testing
in reading and writing skills at grade nine. For that purpose, initially I taught
the students of grade nine based on reading and writing text and skills. Then,
I administered a test in reading and witing skills with the application of
communicative language testing. I analyzed and interpreted time-on-tasks in
daily classroom teaching and testing, pre-test and progressive tests post-test
as well. The study was carried out using both primary and secondary sources
of data. The primary data was elicited from the forty students of grade nine
of Kerwani Higher Secondary School, Rupandehi by administrating time-ontasks, pre-test, progressive tests and post-test. For the secondary data, I
mainly used grade nine English text book. After analyzing and interpreting
the data, I found that the application of communicative language testing in
reading and writing skills has shown notable effect in the classroom teaching
and testing in case of ninth graders of Kerwani Higher Secondary School,
Rupandehi.
The study is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter contains
general background, review of related literature, objectives and significance
of the study and the definitation of the specific terms. The second chapter
includes the methodology adopted to carry out in the study as, the sources of
data, sampling proceures, tools and process of data collection and limitations
of the study. The third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of
data. The fourth chapter consists of the findings and recommendations of the
study. Finally, references and appendices are followed in the concluding
chapter.
