Blurring of the Demarcation between History and Fiction in Andrew O'Hagan's Our Fathers

Abstract

InOur Fathers, by fictionalizing the historical events, O'Hagan has suggested that, history, after being expressed in the form of words, can be viewed as a fictional entity. The novel dramatizes the housing history of twentieth century Scotland and portrays the lives of fictional Bawn family in the context of twentieth century Scotland. Doing so O'Hagan has succeeded to confute history as evolution and to blur the demarcation between history and fiction.
