Abstract

This research attempts to study the use of L1 i.e. Nepali in the L2 i.e. Englishclassroom. The views provided by teachers, students and headmasters have beenanalyzed and interpreted in the present study. 100 students, 30 teachers and 10 headmasters were the major sources of data.The responses provided by themwere analyzed.And it was found that the use ofNepali was inevitable. This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one is introduction and consistsof General Background,Literature Review,Objectives of the Study and Significanceof the Study. Chapter two deals with the methodology applied to conduct the research. Thischapter consists of sources of data, samplingprocedure, tools of data collection,process of datacollection and limitations of the study. The judgemental samplingprocedure and random sampling procedure were used for choosing sample population.Questionnairesand Observationswere the major tools of data collection. Chapter three consists of the analysis and interpretation of the collected data.The responses provided by the teachers, students and headmasters were analyzed withthe help of tables and figures. The fourth chapter deals with the Findings and Recommendations of the study.Findings were dragged out of the interpreted data and some recommendations andpedagogical implications are provided. References and Appendices have beenincluded in the final section of thesis.
