Abstract
Toni Morrison’s Love is a story of Bill Cosey, central figure of female
characters, around whom the lives of female characters May, Christine, Heed, Junior,
L, and Vida revolve. Due to deep impact of Cosey’s life in their lives, their psyche
gets affected deeply and ultimately it results in psychological trauma, a psychic
disorder that makes their present life wearisome. The present research explores gender
trauma, trauma and memory, and narrativization of trauma in the fiction. The
traumatic characters narrate their traumatic experience in order to reduce the burden
of trauma in their life and adjust themselves in present situation. In the novel, every
character has certain psychological problem because of their traumatic experience of
the unexpected and unwanted events that have undergone in their life. Therefore,
Morrison’s Love is a trauma novel.
