Abstract
Financial inclusion is a critical component of socioeconomic development,
particularly in regions facing poverty and income disparity challenges. In the context
of Nepal, co-operatives have emerged as key players in fostering financial inclusion,
poverty reduction, and income generation. This dissertation delves into the
multifaceted role of co-operatives in promoting financial inclusion in Dakshinkali
Municipality, Nepal, employing a descriptive and analytical methodology.
The objectives of this study encompass a comprehensive assessment of the role of cooperatives in elevating the socioeconomic conditions in Dakshinkali Municipality,
with a particular focus on promoting socioeconomic condition. Additionally, the
research seeks to identify and examine the primary challenges that co-operatives
encounter in their mission to enhance socioeconomic conditions. Furthermore, the
study delves into the cooperative business models and evaluates their effectiveness in
advancing socioeconomic well-being within Dakshinkali Municipality.
The findings underscore the pivotal role of co-operatives in fostering sustainable
socioeconomic development, as evidenced by the positive correlations between
cooperative involvement, employment creation, financial literacy, environmental
conservation, disaster preparedness, entrepreneurship development, and social
recognition. These insights provide valuable guidance for cooperatives, regulatory
bodies, cooperative members, and future researchers.
In conclusion, this dissertation illuminates the multifaceted contributions of cooperatives in promoting financial inclusion and socioeconomic advancement in
Dakshinkali Municipality, Nepal. The implications drawn from this research
emphasize the importance of fostering cooperative growth, enhancing financial
literacy, embracing environmental stewardship, and actively engaging in community
development initiatives to realize the full potential of co-operatives as agents of
positive change and prosperity.
