Abstract

The study in Joseph Conrad’s two novellas “Youth: A Narrative” and “The End of the Tether” find out the hidden mentality of the voyagers in the native land. It establishes there is a colonial self in the latent level even though, the voyage seems only a voyage for the purpose of adventure and tour. It shows the voyage is not only for tour it tries to expand its colonial views subjugating the native culture, physical appearance, and weather too. Still, there is colonialism it has only altered its way in the subtle way. The research proves that the colonialism has shifted its way from capturing the land or people to controlling the culture and the possible means of resources in the foreign land.
