Abstract

Invisible Man,byRalph Ellisondealswith the quest for identity of black minority group through anunnamed Negro protagonist. Though Ellison has written many short stories, essays, novels, this single work helped him to be known as a well- known writer. Despite being a member ofAfro-American community, Ellison has failed to depict the proper problemsof women of his own community. The frustration on the part of the readers primarily results from the misinterpretation of relationship of male and female. It seems that Ellison does not have muchconcernabout women's suppressiondue to the lack ofproperacknowledgementabout women's problem. In the narration of Ellison, Black women remain invisible within and outside the black community.
