Abstract
This research is a study of "SPEAKING ANXIETY AMONG EFL
STUDENTS". This study aimed to find out whether gender, and personality
difference play crucial role in determining the level of anxiety. It also tries to
throw light on the causes of speaking anxiety. This study was carried out using
both the primary and secondary sources of data. All the data were collected
through questionnaire. For the primary sources of data the researcher selected
six different campuses from three districts (i.e., Surkhet, Banke and Bardia). Twenty students (i.e., ten males and ten females) of Bachelor first year were
randomly selected from each campus as the respondents of the study. From the
study it has been found that the learning variables gender and personality play
role in determining the level of anxiety, where males were quite more anxious
of speaking . Same the way introverts had more anxiety while speaking in
public, and the six different causes of speaking anxiety were found, among the
causes “nervous/ afraid/ panicky feeling” is the most haunting.
This study mainly includes four chapters. The first chapter introduces the
anxiety which consist of general background, review of the related literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter mainly concerns
with the methodology used in the study, the source of data, sampling
procedure, tools of data collection and limitations of the study. Likewise, the
third chapter of the study comprises analysis and interpretation of the data.
The fourth chapter introduces the product of the analysis and interpretation of
the data, i.e., findings of the study and simultaneously some recommendations
are made on the basis of that findings. Eventually, references and appendices
are also given. The appendices part includes research tools and other
informations.
