Abstract

Thethesisentitled'PerceptionofPrimaryLevelStudentsTowardsQualitiesofEnglishLanguageTeachers'wasanattempttofindouttheperceptionsofprimarylevelstudentstowardsqualitiesofEnglishlanguageteachers.Forthisstudy,tenstudentsofGrade5fromfivepublicschoolseachofNawalparasidistrictwereselectedassample.Anopinionnairewasdevelopedandusedtocollectdataforthestudy.Oneofthemajorfindingsofthestudyisthat98percentoftheinformantsopinedthatagoodteacheristheonewhoisneatandclean,patient,punctual,hardworking,responsibleandselfconfident.Similarly,allofthemopinedthattheirteachersshouldalsobecreative,smartandhealthy(bothphysicallyandmentally).Similarly,98percentstudentsopinedthatateacherwhoisfrank,friendlyandhelpfulandhasleadershipcapacityandskilltocooperatebetweenandamongtheteachers,students,parentsandotherstakeholdersofthe school andthesocietyisagoodteacher.Likewise,allthestudentsaccordedthattheir teachers should befamiliarwiththeteachingapproaches,methods,techniques,materials,trendsands/heshouldtaketheresponsibilities. All the studentsexpectedtheirteacherstohavetheknowledgeoftestingandevaluationandclassroommanagement. The thesis has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with thegeneral background, literature review, objectives and the significance of thestudy. The second chapter contains the methodology which is sub-chaptered asthe sources of data, sampling procedure, tools for data collection, process of datacollection and the limitations of the study. The third chapter includes the analysisand interpretation of the data obtained from the field. The fourth chapter contains the findings and recommendations of the study.
