Abstract
This study analyzes the issues of migrationandglobalization that open up
opportunities fordevelopmentin Manjushree Thapa'sSeasons of Flight.The
protagonistof the novel,Prema,migrates fromNepal to America throughtheEDV
process.Migration has become a globalissue. Unstable political situationthat creates
other problemsis the maincause of migration in the developing countries like Nepal.
The studytries to identifythe reasons of migrating people to the foreign countries.
Peoplemigrate from developingcountries to developed countries in search of
opportunity. They do not remain stable even in the foreign land though they earn
money.This situation isportrayed bythe narrator throughPrema in the novel.
Migrating people can help the nation economically through remittance but thatdoes
not go for long. The lifestyle of their family may change,but the nation will face the
possibility of brain drain. Manjushree Thapa uses the title"Seasons of Flight"and
compares the life with the flight of Butterfly.
