Abstract

Young and inexperienced Carrie lives in a world of despair; her meeting with Drouet is a coincidence, which consequently opens her access to the city of Chicago. Carrie is haunted by the search of job so as to establish herself in the town. She is inclined toward Drouet not because of her profound love toward him but because of his possession. While being familiar with the urban life, she is fascinated by the prospect of materialistic life and excitement that rapidly grows in urban centers.
