Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to find out the achievement intheuse of phrasal verbs by tenth graders. For thispurpose the primarydata were obtained from the students studying in grade ten of Bajuradistrict. English text book was the main source of secondary data. Testitems were prepared containing matching items, synonyms, sentencemaking, fill in the gaps, tick the best answer and opposite word items.The researcher randomly selected sixty students 20 each from threedifferent schools. The researcher analyzed their responses and compared theirachievement on the basis of the percentages of correct responses andmarks obtained. It was found that the students’ proficiency in the use ofphrasal verb in Bajura district was satisfactory level. The study is divided into four chapters. First chapter presents thegeneral background, importance of phrasal verbs, review of relatedliterature, objective of the study, significance of the study and definitionsof the specific terms. Second chapter deals with the methodology adopted during theresearch, which consists of sources of data, population of the study, toolsand process of data collection and limitations of the study. Third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the obtained data. The final chapter deals with the findings and recommendations of the study.
