Abstract
The present thesis entitledLearning Styles Adopted bytheLearners of EnglishofGrade 11 and 12aimed to find out the learning styles adopted by secondary levellearners of English and to find out thepersonality differences in the use of learningstyles in English classroom.Keeping the objectives inconsideration, 70Englishlearners of secondaryschoolfromLetang, Morangweresampled through non-randompurposive sampling procedure. A set of structured questionnaire was the tool of datacollection. After analysis and interpretation of data, it has been found that majority ofthestudents usedvisual learning stylesand least of the students usedfieldindependentlearningstyles. Likewise,allofthe learningstyles mentioned in the questionnairei.e.perceptual styles, introvert, extrovert, deductive, inductive, field independent and fielddependent learning styleswere found to be used by both 35introvertand 35extrovertlearnerswith slight variation in the degree of use.
This thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one is introductory part which includesbackground of the study, statement of the problems, objectives of the study, researchquestions, significance of the study, delimitationsof the study and operationaldefinition of the key terms. Similarly, chapter two includes the review of the relatedtheoretical literature, review of related empirical literature, implications of the reviewof the study andconceptual framework. Thechapterthreedeals with methods andprocedures of the study under which design and method of the study, population,sample and sampling strategy, study area/ site, data collection tools and techniques,data collection procedures, analysis and interpretation procedures are mentioned.Likewise, chapter four includes analysis and interpretation of results and summary ofthefindings. Chapter five includes conclusions and recommendations.Therecommendation is classified intopolicy related, practice related and further researchrelated. Finally, the references and appendices are included.
