Abstract

It is a study of Involvement of Children in School Age in Domestic Works Base on Gamhariya VDC, of Sarlahi District.The mainobjective of the study is to identify the situation of children who are involve in domestic workin VDC Gamhariya, Sarlahi District. This study has included 100 households are randomly selected. The target groups of the study children6-14 years old from each sample households. Among them 25/25households are selected from the four wards of the VDC. From ward no.1,2,3and 8.Frequently distribution, cross variables analysis, interpretation and comparison with conclusion of the data was the main out puts of the data analysis. The study population were from different ethnic groups Yadav, Terai Dalitand Terai caste. The majority of people are Hindu from the total population.The major occupation of the people of this VDC is agricultural. Only one intwo of aged 5 and above population had literate in the study area with 70%child literacy. About 70% population were ever married and 6.4 was theaverage HH size. Out of the total 641 population 161 persons were aged 6-14 years and 86 total child were interviewed in the total 100 households.Out of the total 100 HHs 65 percent household’s children had involved in any domestic works and 97 percent parent’s argued that poverty is a major reason for domestic child work in that society. There was positive relationship between age and child involvement indomestic work. higher the age of children higher the involvement indomestic work in both out school and in school children. Similarly, thosechildren whose family size is large, they have been involved more inhousehold works. Non agricultural occupied parent’s children(18%) is lessengaged for long time in domestic work than out school children(75%) but,in school children whose main income source of family is business, theywere higher engaged(57%) 3+ hour in a day in domestic work than in schoolchildren(50%). It is found that higher the level of education of in schoolchildren, higher the involvement in domestic work for a long time. Higher the proportion of higher caste, lower the involvement in domestic work in both in school and out school children. There is no vast difference between in schoolchildren and out school children in the availability of HHs facilities. Highly ambitious children had low involvement than farmer ambitious for HHs works.
