Abstract

The Contemporary international system is changing and the rise of Asia and the need for greater global governance are both apparent. Technological revolutions in the recent decades, the use of big data and artificial intelligence, in cooperation with automation has led to social, political and economic transformations globally. Emerging economies and technology is transforming the global power relations of the 21 st century. Technologies and mass communication medium such as twitter has distributed the power of influence to individuals. While automation strives to displace millions of workers who may not be able to retrain for the 21 st century workforce. In a society where big data and artificial intelligence dictate most aspects of daily life, the tech multinationals stand to benefit from the digital revolution. The research aimed to answer what kind of global transformations and changes in global power structures have occurred through technology as catalyst. Further, the research aimed to examine and identify different trends of the 21 st century that are transforming the contemporary international system.
