Pharsatikar VDC Rupandehi district. The main objectives of this study were to find out the change in economic status in Tharu community i.e. occupation, land, income, business, etc; to find out the change in social status of Tharu community i.e. education, health, political involvement etc. Directly interviewed respondent were randomly selected household head person. The total study population of Tharu was 415 at the time of survey. Among them 183 (44.1%) male, and 232 (55.9%) female out of 415 population from 55 house hold were surveyed. This study found out that Tharu community are accepting new traditions, ideas and cultural practice. Economically they are trying to change their traditional occupation. In agriculture, they are adopting modern technologies. They were attracted towards modern occupation and education. They are becoming more civilized, healthier and educated also. Tharu were conscious to their rights, ethnic feeling and equal participation on social activities etc. This study also found out that the education, occupation, technology, modernization and effects of migrants play vital role in changing Tharu community.
