Pokhrel, Lila2022-05-182022-05-182018https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14540/10430This thesis entitled English Code Mixing in Textbook of Grade Eight Social Studies and Population Education aims to find out English code mixed terms in Social Studies and Population Education of grade eight and also find out the context in which code mixing takes place. I used grade eight textbook as primary source of data. The population of the study was universe which Is ampledusing,non-random purposive sampling procedure.I used observation sheets and check list as data collection tools.The major findings of the present study revealed that there were 138 English expressions mixed in the textbook.Out of 138 mixed expressions, English words were 83 (60.14%) and English phrases occupied 55 (39.86%) in the textbook. On the word class basis,English nouns occupied 78 words (93.98%) which shows that more nouns were code mixed than other words in the textbook. Similarly,2 verbs (2.41%) and3adjectives (3.63%) were code mixed in the textbook. The thesis comprises five chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction in which general background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, significance of the study and delimitation of the study are presented .Chapter two is related to review of the related literature and theoretical framework which incorporates reviews of theoretical and empirical literature,the implication of the review of the study and conceptual framework.
