Toni Morrison shows the violent nature and irrational behaviour of the characters through the activities like killing, quarrelling, fighting, backbiting, raping, hatred, subjugation, repulsion, anger, etc. She compares the callous and brutal nature of the characters with the nature of the animals through their activities.
