Item Impacts of Tiffin Practice on Nutritional Status of Primary School Children(Faculty of Education, 2011) Sapkota, Mina DeviThe study entitled Impacts of Tiffin Practice on Nutritional Status of Primary School Children aimed to find teacher knowledge attitude and practices and student's knowledge and practice regarding Nutritional Status and Tiffin Practice in the Schools in Rajahar VDC of Nawalparasi district. This research was fundamentally based on descriptive type. The necessary information's were taken from teachers and students of grade five. All together, there were 14 teachers and 140 students respondents from different Schools of Rajahar VDC. The source of data was primary. The researcher prepared 15 questionnaires for teacher and 20 questionnaires for students along with observation checklist. Most of the schools of study area had no canteen and Tiffin Hall. Though, the respondents were positive on proper Tiffin Management and Supervision System. There were not even measuring instruments of student's height and weight. But, all teachers were strongly positive towards its necessity. The conditions of nail, cloth and teeth were better in private school than public. Most of the students habits of taking food three times per day. Usually they bring bitten rice and Dalmoth for Tiffin but their preference was noodles. Average height of boys was 39.64 cm and girls wear 52.9 cm. In this way boys average weight were 33.18 K.G. and Girls were 41.23 K.G. According to Gomez classification 12.13 percent student had normal and 38.56 percent students had mild 1st degree malnutrition 37.85 percent student had moderate 2nd degree malnutrition and 11.42 percent student had severe 3rd degree malnutrition. According to waterloo classification 62.85 percent were normal and 37.14 percent were acute stunted. Girls were found more having more height and weight in the comparison of Boys. In the study area level of Tiffin managed system is very poor. So, School administrator should play vital role for proper plans and polices regarding good management of Tiffin in SchoolItem Knowledge among Adolsence on Stis, Hiv and Aids(Faculty of Education, 2011) Lamichhane, Bhanu BhaktaThis study entitled "Knowledge among Adolescence on STIs and HIV/AIDS in Gaindakot VDC" was carried out in order to assess the existing knowledge about STIs and HIV/AIDS among adolescence to find out health problems related to STIs and HIV/AIDS. Majority 99% of the respondents had heard about STIs and HIV/AIDS but they were unaware about different modes of transmission signs and symptoms of STIs and HIV/AIDS. Most of the respondents were unaware about the transmission of STIs and HIV/AIDS. 52% of the respondents had known that HIV/AIDS and STIs are the communicable diseases. 94% of the adolescence had known about the infected mother can pass HIV virus to her new born baby and unsterliazed infected needle may spread HIV/AIDS through blood transfusion. Most of them had heard about the condom. There are various factors that hinder the awareness about STIs and HIV/AIDS among adolescence such as educational status, effective advertising programs from T.V., radio, news paper, and awareness programmes etc. and the main problem found in the study area was that the adolescence mainly girls could not talk about sexual behavior. Which has become the big problem to the safe sexual behaviour. Due to shyness, it is found that they didn't express their problems and early used to go for treatment and some of the respondents were unaware about the treatment of the STIs and HIV/AIDS. Having such traditional condition of healthy behavior may possibilities of transmission of AIDS and STIs is seen in the study area.Item Physical Health Problems of Elderly Women in Gaindakot Vdc(Faculty of Education, 2011) Parajuli, PuspaThere are many health problems in old age. Elderly people are vulnerable to physical, social, emotional and socioeconomic problems. In comparison to elder females are suffered by many types of physical problems. Along with this, elderly women are facing with several problems day by day. So the entitle "Physical Health Problems of Elderly Women in Gaindakot VDC" was selected for study is based on the primary data collected from the door to door visit. The main objectives of this study are to find out the physical health problems of elderly women in Gaindakot VDC of Nawalparasi District. In the context of elderly people, the researcher intended to identify the main physical problems of elderly women in Gaindakot VDC of Nawalparasi District. This is a new kind of study in it's nature. The result of the study is hoped to be useful as a guideline for the policy markers, teachers, experts, students, researchers and planners as it had been carried out with the sincere norms of dissertation writing. In the study area, total populations of elderly women aged 60 years and above were 117. All of them were selected by purposive sampling method. An interview schedule, observation sheet were used for the collection of necessary information. Almost all the respondents were found to be suffering from different kinds of the health problems. The major health problems, which were found 17.09 % of total were poor eye sighted, 15.38% were heart diseased, 8.55% had backache, others health problems such as headache, swelling of legs (Odema), gastritis problems, joint ache etc. were also found in some respondents. It was found that age group 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 were suffered from different kinds of health problems. Blindness, respiratory diseases were present more in Brahmin and Chhetri respondents. They study also found that 17.09% respondents had eye diseases, 15.38% had respiratory diseases, 5.13% had joint diseases, 6.84% have Gastric and 4.27% had uterus prolapsed. A part from these diabetes was also present in some respondents It was also found that 12.82% percent respondents had bad body posture, 34.19% had poor condition of teeth, 10.26% had poor condition of skin, 11.11% respondents had poor condition of hair and 35.88% respondents had poor/bad personal hygiene. According to study, there is no provision of regular check up of elderly women in sub- health post and clinics. The existing health practices of elderly women regarding food and nutrition, personal hygiene, use of safe drinking water, bathing, smoking and health check up is not satisfactory. From this study the researcher gave suggestions to the policy level, VDC and to the further researchers that the government and non-government sector should support such people ensuring adequate nursing care. Further more, such type of studies should be conducted at the national as well as local level.
