Item Gastrointestinal Parasites in Krishnasar (Antilope cervicapra) of Blackbuck Conservation Area, Bardiya and Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, Kanchanpur(Department of Zoology, 2014) Chaudhary, Ram BahadurBlackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) is near threatened species which are conserved in Blackbuck Conservation Area (BCA), Khairapur, Bardiya and Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve (SWR), Kanchanpur district. The present study was conducted to determine the prevalence of GI parasites of blackbuck in BCA and SWR. A total of 150 fresh faecalsampleswere collected from BCA and 70 faecal samples from SWR and examined by floatation, sedimentation and Stoll's counting technique by using Lugol's Iodine mount and saline mount. The GI parasites were found to be 90.00% in BCA and SWR. Protozoan parasites were found to be most prevalent in SWR (55.71%) compared to BCA(55.33%). While with regard to helminths, blackbucks of BCA were found to be more infected (90%) than SWR (88.57%). Helminths infection was comparatively more common than the protozoan infection in blackbuck of both BCA and SWR. Gastrointestinal parasites were more prevalent in female as compared to male and fawn. blackbuck of BCA were found to be infected with 12 different species of parasites which includes Entamoeba(20%) and Eimeria(45.33%) among protozoa;Paramphistomum(25.33%) and Fasciola(17.33%) among trematodes; Moniezia(14%) among cestode; Trichostrongylus(75.33%),Ascaris(57.33%),Haemonchus(18%),Strongyloides(16%),Bunostomum(12.67%),Trichuris (6%) andOxyuris (4.67%) among nematodes while blackbuck of SWR were found to be infected with 10 different parasitic genera i.e.Entamoeba(8.57%) and Eimeria(51.43%) among protozoa;Paramphistomum(38.57%),Fasciola (21.43%) and Schistosoma (7.14%) among trematodes; Trichostrongylus(55.71%), As caris (38.57%), Haemonchus (14.28%), Strongyloides (12.86%) and Bunostomum(2.86%) among nematodes. Among protozoans identified,Entamoeba was most prevalent in BCA compared to SWR whileEimeriawas comparatively higher inSWR than BCA. Three trematodes i.e. Paramphistomum, Fasciola and Schistosoma were more prevalent in SWR than BCA while Schistosoma was only reported from SWR. Monieziawas only observed in blackbuck of BCA. All of seven different nematodes were comparatively higher in BCA than SWR while Trichuris and Oxyuris were reported from BCA only.Item Pedagogical Practices of Mathematics Teacher in Ethnically Plural Classroom at Secondary Level(Department of Mathematics Education, 2014) Bhatta, Jagdish PrashadThis research is descriptive in nature related to pedagogical practices of mathematics teacher in ethnically plural classroom at secondary level. To meet the objectives, certain tools were constructed in a close consultation of the supervisor and administered on the selected sample. For conducting the study Secondary School in Kanchanpur District was selected employing the purposive sampling procedure. On the basis of the sample chosen, the tools were administrated. These tools were interview questionnaires for the students, questionnaires for the teachers, and observation checklist for classroom, were conducted to achieve the information. It was found that, most of the math teachers used traditional oriented teaching methods which were far from the student’s reality. Teaching methods and materials that math teacher used in classroom did not represent the need of classroom diversity. Overall activities of the teachers reflected that they were unconscious and unaware of the knowledge about managing the ethnically plural classroom. In teaching the teachers did not empower the students equally rather disempowered the students. The study has drawn several findings. Disconnected teaching activities and traditional oriented teaching methods and materials. Lack of appropriate knowledge in mathematics teacher to make all students equally involve in classroom teaching. Positive behaviors of teachers but indifferent to poor students as well as partly bias, violence and discrimination and violence. Psychological barrier such as humiliation, inferiority, shyness and fear in students reduces the behavior of math learning. Teachers oriented teaching methods, language, uniform pedagogy, materials, national curriculum, and understanding about the students learning background. Management of multi-lingual and multi-ethnic classroom teaching and curriculum. Social justice in classroom teaching for equal learning experiences.Item Modelling of Metapopulation Dynamics and Distribution of Varanus Flavescens in Nepal Tarai: Implications to Conservation(Department of Zoology, 2014) Baral, SurajHuman presence within the Jagdishpur reservoir and associated wetlands has largely fragmented the wetland habitats. In attempt to understand the metapopulation dynamics of Golden Monitor Lizard (Varanus flavescens), these dynamics of the species were modelled from surveys of two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013. A land cover classification was performed to categorise land cover patterns and recognition of landscape variables. Surveys to determine dynamic occupancy state of the species was performed in 40 grids; 1 sq km each, enclosing Jagadishpur Reservoir and associated wetlands and analyzed in Program PRESENCE. Impact of landscape variables on species distribution and other factors used as covariates upon parameters were modelled in the program. Available presence data were modelled for predicting potentially suitable habitat using Program MAXENT. Land cover classification recognized five major landcover types with greater proportion of forest and settlement areas. Other identified classes were grassland, marshlands and bare lands distributed over the area. The study revealed higher rate of recolonization probability over local extinction rate thus higher occupancy in 2013. A patchy subpopulation type metapopulation in the study area was documented. Occupancy of Golden Monitor Lizard was shown to be negatively affected by distance to settlements while positive correlation existed between the state variable and distance to nearest water source. MAXENT model predicted entire Tarai and some river valleys as potential area but GIS analysis revealed a relatively less Extent of Occurrence available for the species. The study concluded unstable metapopulation existed as human disturbance increases. Identification and monitoring of other metapopulation of the species, providing better protection or extension of PA networks, landscape level conservation and enlistment of the species in national red data list as endangered will help to conserve the species if implicated.Item Performance of Privatised Public Enterprises in Nepal(Department of Economics, 2014) Dhakal, SarojNot AvailableItem The Role of Co-operatives in Savings & Credit Mobilization(A Comparative Study of Rural Co-operatives of Lekhani VDC and Urban Co-operatives of Baglung Bazaar Baglung District)(Faculty of Economic, 2014) Kandel, KaladharThis study entitled "Role of Co-operative in Savings& Credit Mobilization: A comparison of Rural Cooperatives of Lekhani VDC and Urban Co-operatives of Baglung Bazaar" has been carried out in the partial fulfillment for the degree of Masters of Arts in Economics. The White Castle, which is characterized by a confusion or loss of identity brought on in part by the conflicts between European and Islamic values, focuses on the false binary concepts made by the western countries. The novel attempts to subvert the deep-rooted tension (or dichotomy) between east and west, traditional communalism and modern secularism. Such binary concepts often get elaborated treatment in Pamuk's literature. They are often startling, disturbing and unsettling or even mysteriously exhilarating, as is the novel undertaken in this thesis. The novel has been studied through the perspective of Orientalism in which the westerners have termed the word to inferiorize the east. In fact, they are only myth because in the real sense, they do not exist. The novel is about a captivating work of historical fiction and a treatise on the riddle of identity and the relations between East and West. The novel revolves around a young Italian scholar, the unnamed narrator, sailing from Venice to Naples who is taken prisoner and delivered to Constantinople. The narrator falls into the custody of a scholar known as Hoja, the master, a man who is exactly like him. The narrator, being slave, instructs his master Hoja. However, Hoja wants to know more: why he and his captive are the persons they are and whether, given knowledge of each other's the most intimate secrets, they could actually exchange identities. The theme of the novel includes the message that the east and west are complementary to each other rather than the ruler and the ruled. The Turkish scientist settles in Italy whereas a Venetian enjoys his life and post of power as a royal astrologer at the court in Istanbul. They learn each other that east west dichotomy is merely a myth.Item Master of Arts in Sociology(2014) Curriculum Development Center, TUItem An Analysis of the School Drop-out in Sitaram Higher Secondary School, Kaski(Faculty of Sociology, 2014) Sapkota, SrijanaNot available
