Title: Academic Procrastination of University Students on Writing Assignments

Abstract: This study entitled Academic Procrastination of University Students on Writing Assignments intends to find out the causes of academic procrastination on writing assignments by university students. To accomplish the study, survey research design was applied. Regarding the sample population, 40 students were selected by using non-random purposive sampling strategy.To obtain the data the researcher used question naireconsisting of close ended and open-ended questions.The data was analyzed and interpreted descriptively. The study showed that most of the university students procrastinate their writing assignments due to the imposition of lots of tasks at once by teacher,task aversiveness, depression and poor mood, lack of time management skills,fear of making mistakes, hollow effects in evaluation and lack of sufficient materials,sources, guidance and constructive feedback. This thesis has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter includes the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study,research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms of the study.The second chapter deals with the review of related theoretical literature, review of empirical literature,implication of the review for the study and conceptual framework. The third chapter deals with the methodology employed to conduct the study. It gives information about the design of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, study area, research tools, data collection procedure and data analysis procedures and interpretation. Chapter four consists of analysis of data and interpretation of result. Likewise, the fifth chapter includes the findings,conclusions and recommendations. Some recommendations related to policy,practice and further research are presented in this section. This chapter is followed by references and appendices.
