Abstract: The present study entitled 'English Used by Nepali Writers: A Case of NewParadigm( Eng. Ed. 523)'was an attempt to find out how Englishlanguagehas been used in literature in Nepal. The main objective of the study was tofind outthe use ofEnglish in Nepaliliterature. Moreover, it also tried todiscover how Nepaliness wasbrought in the selected texts by Nepali writers invarious genres of literature. The major tools of data collection were observationand intensive reading. Textsfrom the textbook New ParadigmwrittenbyNepali writers were studied critically and veryintensively. The collected datawasanalyzed and interpreted descriptively. Theresearchstudy found thatNepali literature in English is more culture and context sensitive. Moreover, itwas found thatmanywords and expressions wereborrowed from writers’mother tonguesfor carrying the sensitivity andcultural purity. Furthermore,some phrases, andsentences are directly translated from author's first languageinto English. The research consists of four chapters. The first chapter basically deals with thestudy of the general backgrounds, review of the related literature, objectivesand significanceof the study. Since this is an introduction in nature, newEnglishes, World Englishes, cultural perspective of looking at literature,literature in English by Nepali authors and similar topics have been brieflyintroduced. Some research works have been critically reviewed in this chapterand objectives of the study have been mentioned. Second chapter deals withthe methodology that consists of sources of data, sampling procedure, tools fordata collection, process of data collection and limitations of thestudyrespectively. Similarly, third chapter deals with an analysis and interpretationof the data collected. The fourth chapter deals with the findings,recommendations and pedagogical implications. In the final part of the thesisreferences have been included systematically along with appendixes whichwere used as major tool for the analysis and the interpretation of the data.
