Abstract: The thesis entitled “Wang Lung as an Existential Hero: A Study of Buck’sThe Good Earth” deals with the issue of human existence. It discloses how Wang Lung struggles for his existence. He is represented as an existential hero. To keep his existence, he struggles with natural disasters like famine, drought, starvation. With an unpleasant situation he uplifts his existence in the society. Wang Lung leaves no stone unturned on his aspiration to advocate for the existence. This leads to the idea that human beings have to create their own value in the world. This work concludes that Pearl S. Buck expresses the Chinese life through the hero Wang Lung who advocates for his exists. By challenging the time and nature, he exists his replendence in Chinese society.
