Abstract: In reference to the anomalous diversity in the mechanics of rural development people’s participatory model is one of the keys on sustainable development to heighten the prospects of development. Rural development is not urbanization alone; the subject looks far to the consumption of natural resources without degrading environment, where people not only earn money but also a good and cooperative living. The case study of local people’s participation in development activities of Daman VDC in sustainable development has proved, in many ways, best example regarding the current flaws in development activities forwarded by donor agencies(NGOs & INGOs). Sustainability does not merely follow development activities, but it is also the consequence of root germination. One can not know the future but can make it. Late social worker Rup Chandra Bista did not know the future but he did give a radiant future to the people of DamanVDC translating his visions of development into activities. This work in our hand includes the role of CBOs in enhancing the living standard of the people of Daman VDC, some instances of multilateral participation in socio-economic, academic, cultural and over all development of the site. The laborious hands groomed together the development procedures and now are seeking the patronage of central government. Sustainable development is not a cheap achievement. The people of Daman developed life long bond with development activities, theysowed it, reaped it and garnered it. This is the only way where people’sparticipation can bring along sustainable development into their communities. Daman has proved herself the best model of rural developmentthrough people’s participation. The roleof government is to magnify and open the information ofother parts of the world that are developing and developed. Only after theimpetus of hope is slouched to the minds of people, development activitiesbecome sustainable. Development activities in Daman VDC do really carethe basic needs of people of local community, so do they in return.Development is like an affair that goes in young hearts, it demands more than it gives. The local people of Daman VDC gave a lot to development activities, and in return got more than demanded. Thus, long lives development activities that heralds fortune to local Daman VDC with the heartfelt participation of local community.
