Abstract: This study tried to find out the impacts about PDDP in rural development aspects of Shaktikhor VDC, it has also attempted to its impact in income generating activities and social mobilization. This study is based on both exploratory as well as analytical research design. The data were related to the prevailing condition of Shaktikhor VDCand information were also collected from the sampled household. Impact of PDDP inrural development aspect was analyzed through the derived data. For the structural and open-ended questionnaire were used. Nepal as one of the developed countries faces many problems due to a complex socio-economic geophysical and for midicpolitical situation. Majority of the people are living in rural areas. Mostof them are living at physiological subsistence level. In Shaktikhor VDC, PDDP has mobilized in more 25 Cos. From each ward households are represented. For he purpose of this study, local leaders who directly or indirectly take share of leadership were interviewed. The rest information were drawn from the members of the community organization. Most of the household were from middle class. In this VDC, PDDP’sprograms were initiated since 2054 B.S. within a short period; it has succeeded to formulate 25-community organization. The female leadership ran most of the community organizations. After lunching this program, especially, women are highly benefitedbecause now they are more aware and can undertake small-scale business too. They have developed their leadership position in the group. In this survey area, people werefound undertaking various activities, which have helped to increase their income leveland financial management. It was identified that only 27 households (75%) have been successful to increase their income by using community loan. Most of the avail money are investment in education and business sectors. Most of the loans are concentrated in animal husbandry, vegetable farming, households expense and poultry farming which constitute 27.78, 25, 25, and 16.67 percent respectively. Female participation has been increased significantly. The type of Cos formulated under PDDP are: male Cos, female Cos and mixed Cos. Male Cos occupied 4.35% female occupies 39.13 and the mixed Cos occupies higher percentage (56.52%).(field survey-2009)The opinions and views towards the PDDP are also positive because all the members of the Cos are totally satisfied. The local leaders of Shaktikhor VDC aremore optimistic towards the impact of PDDP in rural development. They also agree that such programs have to be continued in future. All the programs of PDDP and training are very much useful for the rural people. PDDP has been proved as a model for poverty alleviation in Nepal because experience shows that the bigger and expensive models of development are not successful and sustainable. Any mega projects make the country more dependent on the donors and cannot enhance the local governance practices at the grassroots level. If other things remain constant, the success stories can be replicated in most VDCs of the country.
