Abstract: Tourism industry is going to be most important in the world today. The large numbers of countries of the world have give some priority to the development of tourism in their own country by allocating and investing more money in this sector. All the countries of the world have accepted tourism industry as a main sector of earning's foreign currencies along with a generator of new employment opportunities. An important part of the tourism develop in Nepal to increase number of tourist arrivals to length their stay to give a good image of Nepal to the visitor so as to attract them for re-visit and to make them spend move on Nepalese goods and services. The Sauraha is rapidly growing as the second important tourist's paradise in Nepal. The major objectives of the study were to explore the socio-economic impact of tourism in Sauraha. The study has been completed mainly by using primary data. Some secondary data also has been used which were collected the different publications and department of tourism HMG of Nepal. The primary data were collected by questionnaire survey of tourists local hotels/lodges in Sauraha. Primary information was supplemented by oral interview with local people. Sauraha has under gone such changes as maintained above due to the phenomena like modernization urbanization, industrialization and others. In sum , it is also observed that tourism has contributed a lot in raising the awareness among the communities, national of preserving their traditional culture values norms and heritage. The problems of Sauraha are unorganized sanitation, improper solid waste management, unmanaged dumping site, poaching wild life etc. So, tourism development in Sauraha should include keeping to up local traditions and culture. By keeping up tradition is not only an attraction for tourists or an income source. It is much important for a sustainable development of tourism.
