Abstract
Representation of the 2008 Russo-Georgian War in 5 Days of War is the main
issue of this research. Researcher has examined the 5 Days of War by taking theoretical
support from new historicism mainly of Michel Foucault, Stephen Greenblatt, Stuart Hall
and Edward Said. This research has explored that 5 Days of War is a discourse that has
been highly influenced by western geopolitical ideology and directed in favor of Georgia
against Russia. During the 2008 Beijing Olympics Renny Harlin claims, the world is
attracted to Olympic games and it is his job to inform the world about what happens in
Georgia at that time. However, the film director takes Georgian side ignoring Georgian
Government's clean field operation in South Ossetia where more than ten Russian
peacekeepers are killed before formal outbreak of the war. The research work examines
director's deliberate representation of the 2008 Russo-Georgian War. Also, the researcher
explores several covert reasons for director's resentment to Russia. Hence, the researcher
has gone to underlying level of this war in lights of new historicism that postulates
different speculations from that of established positions in the given context.
