Abstract

This project analyzes Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Nobel Prize winner Mario Vergos Llosa through the dialogic perspective of Bakhtin. In particular, it deals with the multiple plots presented in novel. The main plot of the novel moves with many subplots which represents multiple characters of the society-Lima, which are from all the background of society. They are Gynecologist, Sergeant, Examining Magistrate, Businessman Pharmaceutical Salesman, Berguas Family, Reverend Father, Soccer Referee and Bard of Lima. All these multiple narrativesare open- ended and exist independently from the domain of novel’s main narrator. So the novel is dialogic in nature.Drawing upon Mikhail Bakhtin’s notion of dialogism, this project illustrates the components, characters and the structure of the novel in the light of multiplicity, open endedness, heteroglossia, anti-canonical, centrifugal etc. perspectives of Bakhtin and proves Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter as a Bakhtinian novel.
