Abstract
The present thesis entitled Analysis of Language Used in FM News was an attempted to identify the Language Used in FM News in terms of sentence type, phrasal verb, collocation, idiom and grammatical categories such as tense, voice in economic, political and sports news. This research followed survey design which was based on only the secondary sources of data. The data for the study were judgmentally collected from the news bulletin. The total sample of the study consisted of thirty news bulletins. The required data were collected using observation as the data collection tool. The descriptive statistical tools were used to analyze the data. From the analysis of the data, it was found that non-past tense and simple sentences were maximally found to be used in Image FM news. Similarly, collocations were highly exploited in three sectors of the news like foreign direct investment, power house, national cricket team, probe committee, constituent assembly and so on.
The first chapter consists of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. Similarly, the second chapter deals with review of the theoretical literature, review of empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework. Likewise, the third chapter sheds light on methods and procedures of the study under which design and methods of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, study area / field, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedures and data analysis and interpretation procedure come. The fourth chapter involves analysis of the data and interpretation of the results, and summary of the findings. Finally, the fifth chapter encompasses conclusions and recommendations related to policy, practice and further researches.
