Abstract

This research work entitledClassroom Management in English LanguageTeachingis an attempt to identify different techniques of classroommanagement used in managing ELT classes currently and to find outsecondary level English teachers’ views towards classroom management. Inthis study, I used two research tools to collect the data. They were classroomobservation checklist and questionnaire. Classroom observation checklist wasconsisted different variables used in the classroom to manage the class.Similarly, questionnaire consisted different open-ended questions to findoutteachers’ views towards classroom management. For this study, I collected datafrom ten secondary government-aided and private schools of Koshipari andDhulikhel, Kavre district using classroom observation checklist andquestionnaire. I observed altogether thirty classes of ten teachers (three classesof each teacher) to collect the data. I have analyzed data descriptively usingsimple statistical tools. The findings of this research work showed that most ofthe teachers were aware of variables of classroom management. They wereexcellent in managing the classroom. Thisstudy consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with theoreticalbackground of classroom management, related literature review, objectives andsignificance of the study. The second chapter deals with research methodologyadopted for the study in which the source of data, sampling procedures, toolsfor data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study areincluded. Similarly, the third chapter deals with descriptive analysis andinterpretation of the collected data. The fourth chapter deals with the researchfindings and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of thedata. This chapter is followed by reference and appendices.
