Abstract: | This research work tries to show the psychoanalytical condition of dream and obsession and downfall of characters of Han Kang’s novel The Vegetarian. Han Kang presents story of psychologically disturbed characters, their dream, hidden memory and obsession that ends with the epic downfall. So, the major focus of the research is to find out the reasons behind characters motivation of obsession that results in the downfall. Han Kang explains the way of nurturing children in South Korean middle class society. By presenting the psychological disturbance of main character, it attempts to explore the impact of bitter experience and memory of a child. Han Kang also showcases the fate of those who are suffering from over obsession. Thus it questions the method of nurturing a child in South Korean middle class family particularly and the impact of over obsession in general. This study will be completed with the help of primary and secondary sources. Materials of library and internet will be used along with constructive guidelines provided by teachers, intellectual and professors. |
