dc.description.abstractFertility is a major factor of high population growth. The high rate of Population growth and characteristics related with it may constitute serious challenges to socioeconomic development . Developing countries are facing7 problem of rapidly increased population resulting from high fertility and declining mortality. So, they are several imbalances between the population and resources available. Therefore,balancing between them and achieve a sustainable development in the developingcountries like Nepal are required to lessen their growth rate of population. This thesis entitled ''Fertility Behaviour of Tharu Community in Padampur VDC'',Chitwan used the primary data as main source of information. Data was collected by field survey. Questionnaire was prepared and interview was taken to the sample of targeted population. Secondary data was obtained from journal books of VDCrecords, PHS reports and previous studies also. The study sample included 99 evermarried women or reproductive age group. It attempts of analyzed the Fertility Behaviour of Tharu Community by some selected socio-economic and demographic variables. It is agreed that fertility remains high due to early marriage, high infant and child mortality,minimum used of contraception, low status of women and strong religious and cultural beliefs towards large family in Tharu community.en_US
