This research work examines the use of rhetorical devices which justify the central idea of the novel The Lowland. Lahiri uses best kairotic situation to deliver the intended idea more effectively. The powerful means of persuasion in The Lowland is the presence of right rhetorical devices, such as logos, pathos and ethos with reference to Naxalite movement which justify the central idea of text. She has a big challenge to appeal audiences by bringing the local issue of Naxalite movement and its consequences which she never experiences. The Lowland is to some extent different from a major number of contemporary works in the sense that, this fiction has played with history and fictional representation mergeing into one another. Her argument uses different rhetorical strategies to prove their statement and such rhetorical strategies are comprised of different types of rhetorical devices. The analysis of use of rhetorical devices will be the basic tool to study the novel. A good way to think about kairos is to consider how rhetor tries to persuade audiences based on unique timing and current events. The researcher will critically examine the writer justice to rhetorical devices (logos, pathos and ethos) in the text by bringing Naxalite movement. Classical rhetoricians like Aristotle will be studied to assist the project.en_US
