Abstract: This study entitled “Position of private tutoring in mathematics learning” is aimed to explore the analyze the effect of private tutoring in mathematics and non- mathematics students of TU, to analyze the degree of effect of private tutoring in annual and semester system of TU and to explore the major factors of existing and expanding nature of private tutoring. In this concern to achieve the possible extent of objectives, quantitative technique is applied for study. the population of study was made the whole students of mathematics education department, Nepali education department and English education department which was around 410 in number from where 40 students from Mathematics education, 40 students from Nepali education and 40 students from English education department altogether 120 students were selected as sample of study in random method for data collection. In this study, no significance difference in the mean achievement of students involved in private tutoring and not involved in private tutoring students. As the TU has launched semester system in recent academic domain, This research focused on identifying the effect of private tutoring in semester and annual system where involvement of students in private tutoring was found in disappearing state which means effect of private tutoring in semester is rare in comparison to annual academic system. Traditional teaching learning methodology, lack of real life teaching learning practice in class room, presence of large number of students, poor result in examinations are found as the major reasoning factor for private tutoring. survey is brought in effect using questionnaire as the major tool for data collection and obtained data is analyzed using t-test and some findings in descriptive mode. Private tutoring is a global phenomenon that occurs in all nations with national levels of participation ranging between small to huge size. Private tutoring is blooming in a rapid motion. In some areas, learning centers alone have experienced more than a general expectation, expanding to every continent on earth. In some countries, the costs of shadow education are comparable to or exceed the average national educational expenditure. Families everywhere demand more education for their children and an industry has formed to provide this service.
