Abstract: This is a case study entitled “Effects of Gender in Mathematics Learning”. The objective of this study was to findout the effect of gender disparities in mathematics learning at grade nine and to analyze the effect of gender difference in mathematics learning. Ten students of Janta secondary school and mathematics teachers were chosen by purposive sampling for the study. Direct observation and interview schedules for selected students, their parents and mathematics teacher were the main tools for the data collection. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted in descriptive form. After analyzing the data, it was found that the mathematics achievement of boys students were higher than that of girls students. The present study found that mathematics learning affected by cultural. The performance of girls were low in learning mathematics. Girls were irregular in school and they were busy in household work. The analysis and interpretation of information showed that the gender effects in the learning mathematics. Parental education, parent’s occupation, interests of parents towards boys and girls, interaction between teacher and students, learning environment, local culture feast and festivals were major hindering factors of gender in learning mathematics of selected public school.
