Two secondary level English teachers were sampled byusing purposive non-random sampling procedure from two different publicschools of Mahottari district.Iobserved 30 classes (i.e. fifteen of each teacher)of selected ELT teachers using classroom observation guidelines. From thestudy, it wasfound thatthere was a gap between the teachers’ knowledge aboutthe classroom management strategies; instructional techniques that could beused in ELT classes and their practices in real classroom teaching. It wasbecause teachers stated in the interview that they used learner centeredtechniques, audio visual and supplementary materials and child friendlyphysical facilities in their classroom to deliver the English language skills butafter observing their real practices in the classroom, they mostly used teachercentered methods, limited materials;textbook, newspaper, white board, andmarkersand traditional physical facilities. That is tosay, they hardly noticedusing ICT materials. The thesisconsists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with generalbackground, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, researchquestions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operationaldefinitions of the key terms.
