dc.description.abstractThis thesis entitled "Asking for Accepting and Denying Permission in English and Maithili Language : A Comparative Study" attempts to determine different forms of asking for permission used in English and Maithili and to compare and contrast those in functional structure. The researcher utilized both primary and secondary sources of data The first chapter is introductory in nature. It includes general background and a brief description of the Maithili language, statement of problem, objectives of the study, research methodology, review of literature, limitations of the study, and organization of the study. The second chapter deals with the study of asking for accepting and denying permission in English. It consists of the forms of asking for permissions in English with various examples and interpretations. The third chapter has presented asking for accepting and denying permission in maithili language, person and honorability in the Maithili language. It also consists of the forms of asking for permission in Maithili with various examples. The fourth chapter which is the main focal point of this thesis has found out some similarities and differences in English and Maithili languages in terms of asking for accepting and denying permission. This chapter deals with the similarities of asking for permission in English and Maithili, the common forms in English and Maithili in terms of asking for accepting and denying permission. The fifth chapter includes some pedagogical implication and the sixth deals with the summary and conclusion of the whole dissertation which are found during the study.en_US
