dc.description.abstractThis study entitled “Problems Faced by Teachers in Teaching Mathematics at Lower Secondary Level” and was of survey research, which was conducted in Kirtipur area of Kathmandu district. The objectives of this study was to identify the problems of mathematics teachers while teaching at lower secondary level and to compare those problems between the public and private school mathematics teachers. Fifty lower secondary level mathematics teachers were selected as sample for the study. Questionnaire and classroom observation form were used as the tools for the collection of data. For the questionnaire, sixty items were developed by the researcher under the guidance of supervisor. Data were collected by direct visiting in the sampled schools with the related teachers. The collected data were organized, analyzed and interpreted statistically and descriptively. For the analysis of data the statistical tools mean, standard deviation and t-test were used. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that there were numerous problems faced by mathematics teachers of lower secondary school level due to the student’s activities, teachers, physical facilities, teaching methods and materials, curriculum and text books, evaluation techniques. This study also concluded that public and private school teachers face similar type of problems and there is no significant different between the problem faced by lower secondary school teachers in teaching mathematicen_US
