Title: Place and Time Deixes in Pang Dialect of Magar Language and English Language

Abstract: This research work entitled Place and Time Deixes in Pang Dialect of Magar Language and English has been carried out to find out the Pang Place and Time deictic expressions and also to compare them with those of English. I used both primary and secondary sources of data. I selected thirty native speaker of Pang dialect of Magar language as sampling population using purposive sampling procedure. Questionnaires were used as a tool of data collection. English deictic expressions were taken from Levinson's book, Pragmatics (2010) and Yule's The study of language (2007). The data were analyzed, interpreted and presented descriptively and statistically using tables and illustrations. The place deictic expressions found in Pang are: Ika Naka, Aaka, Aka, Nala, Huka, Huta, Ila, Nanga Mika/ Mila/ Minga, Wanla,Loita, Neraka, Hudinka, Aadinka, jAaleudk Bhitarla, , Hunga, Aanga, Tangta, Harta, Harnga, Falata, Hudifanta, Aadifanta, Dainyanga, Dabryanga etc. The time deictic terms found in Pang dialect of Magaar are: Bhaba, Aka, Aachīm, Ajyall, Khayankhayanka, Ajaba, Bhabaja, Ika Sata/ Maina/ Sal, Nakai Belā, Pailā, Pailjai, Hakan, Hīnnya dīn/ Sata/ Maina/ Sal, Naka din, Jyola, Jyala, Taala. This thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one is an introductory chapter. This chapter includes background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitation of the study and operational definition of key terms. Chapter two bconsists of review of the related theoretical literature, review of the related empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework of the research. Chapter three deals with methods and procedure of the study under which design of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, data collection tools, data collection procedures, analysis and interpretation procedure is mentioned. Chapter four consists of analysis and interpretation of the results and summary of the findings. Finally, chapter five consists of the conclusion, recommendations of the study along with policy related, practice related and further research related.
