Abstract: The present research study entitledContextual Analysis of Cultural Terms in Translation: A Case ofBruised Eveningis an attempt toanalyze thetranslation ofcultural terms contextually. The main purposeof the study was to analyze the cultural terms used in translationand thecontextual analysisof these termsin the case ofBruised Evening. Itaimed to explorethe causes of loss of meaning in translation. Onlythesecondary sources of data were used in the study. Qualitative data wereused with descriptive and analytical study. The study made the contextualanalysis of cultural terms used in the drama Bruised Evening and tried tofind out whetheror notthe termsweretranslated contextually using theequivalent cultural terms or not.Thethirty cultural terms werecategorized in five catogories, such as: Ecological cultural, Materialcultural, Social cultural, Religious cultural and Coceptual cultural terms.In the translating of some cultural terms the translator has used theanother words instead of the equavalent words without any context. Forexample:dhartihas been used to indicate toBhaktapurand has beenchanged intoland. This thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter one introduces thegeneral background, review of the related literature, objectives of thestudy and significance of the study. The second chapter deals withthemethodology adopted for the study. It encompasses sources of data,processof data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter threepresents an analysis and interpretation of the data. In this chapter,datahave been analyzed and interpreted descriptively. Chapter four presentsthe findings from the analysis of data. On the basis of the findings,somesuggestions have been made for pedagogical implication.
