Abstract: This research study entitled, “English Code-Mixing in Lekhakki Swasni”, is a study of English code-mixing in the Nepali novel “Lekhakki Swasni"written by Pragati Rai. Its aim centralizes to the analyses in to the use of English code in the novel "Lekhakki Swasni". It aims to find out and analyze English code-mixingin terms of major word classes, frequency of occurrence of the word and context in which code-mixing takes place and find out the attitude of literary writers and readers towards English codemixing in the Nepali novel. The Primary sources of the data of this study were 20 literary writers and 20 literary readers from Sunsari Multiple Campus Sunsari and Gograha College, Biratnagar, Morang. The researcher used judgemental/purposive sampling procedure for the collection of data. The finding of this work shows that there is a large amount of English code-mixing in the novel, „Lekhakki Swasni‟. Nouns were maximally used followed by adjectives, verbs and adverbs respectively. Regarding the context of code-mixing, the writer was seen to have mixed English words on such context as: talking about Education, profession and post, science and technology, hotel and food, modern equipment, dress, film, vehicles, etc. The study has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction which in turn, consists of general background, statement of the problem, rationale of the study, objectives of the research, research questions, significance of the study and delimitation of the study. The second chapter deals with review of the Related literature and conceptual framework, implication of the reviewed literature and theoretical framework. The third chapter includes methods and procedure of the study which in turn, consists design of the study, sources of data,population of the study, sampling procedure and sample size, tools for data collection, process of data 9 collection, data analysis and interpretation procedure, result and discussion and summary, conclusion and Implication. The fourth chapter deals with analysis and interpretation which in turn, consists of result,frequency wise analysis of the English expression,context wise analysis of code-mixing,analysis of literary writers attitude towards English code-mixing in the Nepali novel,and analysis of literary reader‟s perception towards the English code in Nepali novel.The fifth chapter deals with finding and recommendations which in turn consists of finding of the study and pedagogicalimplication and recommendations.
